Each year, The Arc of Ocean County hosts its highly anticipated Renewal Day, a special full-staff meeting designed to refresh and rejuvenate the team. This event is an opportunity for staff members to reconnect with the mission of The Arc, reaffirming their commitment to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year, the theme was “You Matter,” reminding everyone that self-care is essential, and as the saying goes, "You can’t pour from an empty cup."

The day kicked off with discussions about the personal journeys that led each staff member to The Arc, offering an intimate look into their shared passion for the cause. The conversation deepened as participants explored strategies to manage stress and embrace a balanced life, reinforcing the importance of mental and physical well-being in their work.

An interactive game of Clue added an element of fun and collaboration, reminding the team of the value of teamwork and problem-solving. Later, the staff enjoyed a calming guided meditation and a chair yoga session, offering a chance to relax and refocus. 

A highlight of the day was the powerful video presentation by the Power in Numbers self-advocacy group, offering insight into the importance of advocacy and self-expression. The day wrapped up with an inspiring guest speaker who discussed “The Strength from Within,” encouraging everyone to recognize their inner resilience and to continue doing the meaningful work they do with passion and purpose.

Renewal Day at The Arc was a beautiful reminder that when we take care of ourselves, we are better equipped to serve others. The event helped staff reconnect with their purpose and each other, reinforcing the shared mission of making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
