Jen Splits Her Time at J&D and the AEC
byJourneys and Discovery participant Jen M
The Arc, Ocean County Chapter is excited to share a series of blogs written by participants with disabilities at our Journeys and Discovery vocational day program.
I have been coming to Journeys and Discovery for 2 years. I split my week between J&D and the Arc Employment Center, where I have been a participant for 15 years. J&D is a fun place to come to.
We go on lots of field trips such as Jenkinson’s Aquarium and Silverball Arcade Museum. In December I went to Brownstone Pancake Factory where I ordered the mac and cheese burger; it was delicious!
My favorite job sample is Georgian Court University’s Dining Hall where I clean or wrap fruit for purchase. We also volunteer at the 10 Li’l Acres Farm where we rake leaves and feed the animals. We do arts and crafts and my photograph is going to be in the upcoming art show at the Brick Library. I enjoy the parties and activities at J&D, especially our Christmas party and barbeque at the Field of Dreams.
I am looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year, it is going to be fun. Exercising at Monster Fitness and learning about nutrition and wellness is also something I really enjoy.
